Capitol Sports Center Volleyball Tournaments (St. Louis & Indianapolis)
Capitol Sports Center will host two premier girls junior national qualifiers in St. Louis and Indianapolis in March of 2012. Girls ages range between 12 and 18 years. The qualifiers combined are estimated to draw over to 9,000 participants and over 20,000 spectators. The Indianapolis qualifier alone will draw over 5000 participants and represent volleyball teams/clubs from over 30 states. Visitor spending in Indianapolis was estimated at $13.6 million in 2009 according to the Indianapolis Business Journal. The Mideast Qualifier in St. Louis is estimated to have 3000 participants. Both events are held downtown.
USA Volleyball Girls Junior National Championships
The Girls Junior National Championships is the premiere volleyball event in the United States for females 18 years of age and younger sanctioned by USA Volleyball. The event is held “under one roof” in the convention center at a host city to accommodate 8-10 days of competition occurring in Division (Open, National and American) and age group play. Over 1,600 teams register to attend, but only 788 teams eventually qualify - all competing for the title of “National Champion.”
